In Austin, you can get the COVID-19 vaccine in several different ways, including Moderna or Pfizer from Austin Public Health, the Moderna from the Family Hospital System (FHS), Pfizer and Johnson vaccines from CVS, and Pfizer provided by HEB. If you want to make an appointment through the CVS website, you need to wake up at 5 AM. Usually between 5:15 AM and 5:30 AM you can make an appointment to arrange vaccination on the same weekend. As far as FHS is concerned, the entire vaccination process takes about 30 minutes, including 15 minutes observation time after vaccination. Many volunteers ensure the smooth progress and high efficiency of the vaccination.

On the day of vaccination, please eat well, but do not eat any foods that may cause allergies, including but not limited to eggs, milk, seafood (including fish), peanuts, walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, Brazil nuts and pecans, soybeans, wheat, etc.

Before the vaccination, please prepare bottled water, Yan Hu Suo Zhi Tong Pian, Juan Bi Tang or Tylenol.

After vaccination, please drink enough bottled water.

Six hours after the vaccination, you will start to feel pain in your arm, which will ease in the next 12 to 24 hours. To relieve mild arm pain at the vaccine injection spot, you can take Yan Hu Suo Zhi Tong Pian. If you have severe pain, you can take Juan Bi Tang. If you plan to take medicine, take Tylenol instead of Ibuprofen.

After the initial vaccination, you can log on to the V-safe website and report symptoms every day. CDC will track you through V-safe. You can find related information on CDC website. https://www.cdc.gov/.../vac.../safety/allergic-reaction.html

Best wishes and be safe !
